In December 2009, I began a new image series suggested by outtakes from, Eleven Thousand Virgins, the
Artist's Book.. It contained nude figures in lushly colored
landscapes, but without any explicit narrative. The Girl Who Broke The Time Barrier is
an image series with a sci-fi plot serialized in an online blog.The story arc is in three parts, Part One: The Girl Who Broke the Time Barrier, Part Two: The Miraculous Hands of Fabiola Betancourt, and Part Three: The End of All Things Beautiful.
Part
One: The Girl Who Broke the Time Barrier,
introduces Siobhan (pronounced Chavonne)
Metalàhwaggon, an apprentice of space/time manipulation.
During
a practice session, Siobhan manifests the ability to open time
portals without the aid of machines.. Soon, she is perceived as a
threat to the ruling, 'Guardian Counsel'. Siobhan, her mentor Matsuka, and a beautiful alien become the
target of government assassins, 'gunslingers'.who will not rest
until they are dead .Meanwhile, the 'Cenobites', an
enigmatic order
of paranormal contemplatives work to protect Siobhan from
assassination, but not without a price. They also become aware of her
importance and they vow to use her abilities to rewrite
history. Only Matsuka
Iveny, her friend and mentor has a bold plan to hide Siobhan with
Timeline emigres in the mechanized megapolis of late 21st century Los
Angeles. But her plans go awry when Siobhan arrives in 2012
Los Angeles, where there are no emigres from the future; only a
dangerous environment filled with strange ethnicities, unfamiliar
customs and street violence.
Siobhan must survivie in an alien culture even as the Cenobites
probe the Timeline and 'gunslinger' assasins fan out across the
centuries to relentlessly carry out their mission.
